PREVIEW:

All teams seem to be taking the Carling Cup seriously this season with most of the top teams still in the hunt.

Tuesday night’s results saw Liverpool, Chelsea and Cardiff going through the semi finals.

Arsenal Chelsea and Blackburn were the three teams that were eliminated. All three teams are having a season to forget.

Manchester United take on Crystal Palace for the last semi final spot tonight.

Manchester United have done well in the Carling Cup in recent years and Sir Alex has traditionally tested out his young talent in this tournament.

Tonight’s match could also see lots of youngsters. Paul Pogba and Ezekiel Fryers could start their first full match while Ravel Morrison, Michael Keane and Ben Amos are also in contention.

Chris Smalling, Rafael and Darron Gibson are back from injuries.

United’s top scorer in the Carling Cup – Michael Owen is out with injury with Danny Welbeck also doubtful.

But Sir Alex has plenty of options upfront with Mame Biram Diouf and Federico Macheda in need for games.

It will be interesting to see if the youthful squad will overcome the challenge of Palace to enter the semis.
