PREVIEW:

It has been a disastrous last month for Manchester United after being knocked out of the Carling Cup and now the Champions League. Last week saw Hernandez getting injured. As if that was not enough for Sir Alex he saw captain fantastic Nemanja Vidic being stretchered off against Basel. The injury now rules him out for the rest of the season.
Vidic was instrumental when he returned after his injury in November with clean sheets in all games except the controversial 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.
With so many injuries, United have not been able to put a consistent run of results. Vidic’s absence now leaves a big hole at the back alongside Rio Ferdinand.
Evans has not been consistent this season and always has a mistake in his game. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones could be the men who take that place in absence of Vidic.
United have also not been prolific in attack with only four goals scored in the last four games. Wayne Rooney has lost his form after starting the season brilliantly. The midfield has also lacked creativity leading to the attacking woes.
It will be unlikely though Sir Alex will buy in January as he has never spent much in January. So United might have to play with the same squad the entire season.
Now that the Champions League dream is over, United will have to bounce back and concentrate on the Premier League. United will play Wolves next, a side that beat them last time at Molineux.
Wolves have also been in bad form after starting the season brightly. However a win against Sunderland last week would have boosted their confidence.
For United, Dimitar Berbatov or Danny Welbeck could start alongside Wayne Rooney.
With the likes of Crystal Palace beating United at Old Trafford and considering United’s wretched form, Wolves will give themselves more than a chance this weekend.
