Man United 4
Nani (17, 56), Rooney (27, 62)Wolves
Fletcher (47)
Sir Alex was looking for a response from his team at the weekend against Wolves after the EUROZONE Crisis.
RESPONSE – UNITED 4 – 1 WOLVES
It was almost a flawless performance by United at the weekend with the defense, midfield and forwards all giving a good performance.
United needed an early goal just to ease the pressure, and they got an early goal courtesy Nani’s individual goal. The winger cut inside and was given too much space to shoot in midfield and he obliged it with United’s first goal.
Rooney was continuously given space to shoot in the opening half an hour and missed on a couple of occasions. But on 27 minutes he finally obliged and put United 2-0 ahead.
This was the first time United have scored more than one goal in the Barclays Premier League since October when they beat Norwich 2-0.
Half Time : 2-0 to United
Wolves scored early in the second half. Matt Jarvis cross from the left was met by Fletcher, who out jumped Patrice Evra to make it 2-1. That would mean a nervy rest of the match for United.
But United responded well, with Nani scoring his second from Antonio Valencia’s cross. Valencia had a great game and was constantly an attacking threat from the right and he delivered another great cross from the right which was volleyed by Rooney into the net.
United were 4-1 up courtesy Nani, Rooney, Nani, Rooney.
Sir Alex will be delighted by the performance of his players. Carrick was brilliant in midfield with some great tackles. Rio Ferdinand was outstanding at the back. Much was expected from Rio and he really stepped up and gave a very solid performance at the back in absence of Vidic.
History has shown that United respond well when the chips are down and they will be looking to extend this form in the Christmas period and go on a run.
